GROUNDBREAKING AT BILBERRY CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH

Sunday, April 26 at 10:00 am marks the groundbreaking of Phase II of a major construction project that began in September of 1993. The current building, located at 480 Charlemagne Blvd.  will be expanding. Centred around a new sanctuary which will seat 400 worshippers, there will also be more classrooms, washrooms,  and a larger parking lot. The existing sanctuary, which has a capacity of 200, will remain as a meeting place for the French Baptist congregation, Église Évangelique Baptiste d’Orléans. Currently, EEBd’O meets on Sunday afternoons. Once the new building has been completed, the two churches will be able to meet in both sanctuaries on Sunday mornings.

This project has been in the planning stage for several years. The chair of the planning committee, Richard Turle, will be giving a short introduction, followed by the ground breaking by our Board of Directors, Trustees, Committee members, and Pastors. A Pastoral prayer will close the ceremonies.

Bilberry Creek Baptist Church has been meeting since March of 1984, but did not have its own building until 1993.  It reached its capacity in 2008, which prompted the splitting of one service to two. Since February 2009 Bilberry has offered two morning services to accommodate its growing numbers. It is Bilberry’s prayer that the expansion of their building will help to further God’s work in the Orleans community both by being able to offer more space for more people on a Sunday morning, as well as more meeting space for community groups throughout the week.
