DISCOVERY ISLAND! AN EXCITING LEARNING ADVENTURE FOR CHILDREN AGES 4-11

SUNDAY MORNING DURING WORSHIP

Our new adventure centres around a tropical island named Discovery Island. Years ago Discovery Island was used by pirates that sailed these seas. Due to some of the  geographical features of the island, it made for a great hideout. Some still say that there is unclaimed treasure to be found in the caves up on Ruby Ridge.

Today the people living on Discovery Island are not pirates, though Patti, a local fisherman, says his great grandfather sailed with an infamous pirate named Captain Blackjack. Sometimes, passing ships harbour in Crosswinds Cove because of bad weather or ship repairs. There is no inn on the island so overnight guests usually stay at the lighthouse. The Golden Lantern is the local café. They make the best fish and chips you've ever tasted!

The lighthouse keeper looks after more than just the lighthouse. He organizes rescues when ships or people get into trouble along the island's coast line. He also provides navigational information and informs sailors and fishermen of weather bulletins.

The Morningstar is a supply ship that makes regular deliveries to the island; it brings the mail and fresh produce to the island as well as transports visitors from the mainland. The whole town looks forward to their weekly deliveries. Some of you will know the captain of the supply ship, Captain Strum, who was transferred to the Morningstar from the Holy Moly in the summer.

Come aboard, Mateys! There's plenty of excitement and learning!
